Sri.K.Radhakrishnan, formerly Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Kerala, joined as Deputy Director of APCA on 07.11.2016, afternoon. He has 35 years of outstanding service in Prisons and Correctional Services of Kerala state. He has completed Bachelors in Sociology and presently pursuing Masters in Social Work from IGNOU University. He has joined Kerala Prisons Department in the year 1982.
During the initial years of service, he has worked as Asst. Jailor Grade-I at Central Prison Kannur (1989-94); and Trivandrum (1994-99) and as Superintendent of Sub Jail, Alathur (1999-2000). In the year 2000 he was promoted as Deputy Jailor at Special Sub Jail, Viyyur (2000-2001); Central Prison, Viyyur (2001-2002); and Special Sub Jail, Palakkad (2002 - 2003). In the year 2003 he was promoted to the rank of Jailor and served in Central Prison, Kannur (2003-2004), and Superintendent of District Jail, Calicut (2004-2005). He was promoted to the rank of Central Prison Superintendent, and worked in Central Prisons at Trivandrum (2005-2007 & 2008-2010); and Viyyur (2007-2008). He was promoted as Deputy Inspector General of Prisons in 2010 and served as DIG, Prison Headquarters; South Zone (2010-2011); North Zone (2011-2012); and Central Zone (2012-2016). While serving as DIG, Central Zone, he was selected as Deputy Director, APCA.
As an exceptionally skilled prison officer, he had successfully handled many critical situations in prisons across Kerala. He has been a visiting faculty in the State Institute of Correctional Administration, Kerala on the topic Kerala Prison Manual. In recognition of his sincere, dedicated and commendable services to the department, in particular to Correctional Administration, he was awarded 24 good service entries along with cash awards and also with prestigious Chief Ministers Medal in 2003.
