Sri. M. Chandra Sekhar, Formerly Inspector General of Prisons, from Andhra Pradesh assumed charge as Director of APCA on the Forenoon of 2nd February 2019.
He has rendered 30 years of outstanding service in prisons and correctional services in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State. After obtaining his Post Graduation in the year 1982, he has joined Andhra Pradesh Prisons and Correctional Services in 1988 as Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, A distinguished alumnus of APCA, he was awarded Gold medal in Probation and After Care during his one year training at APCA.
He has worked as Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent of jails in various District prisons and Central Prisons of Andhra Pradesh. He was promoted as Deputy Inspector General of Prisons in 2010 and served as DIG, Prisons at Rajamundry and Hyderabad.
He was promoted as Inspector General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Andhra Pradesh and retired as I.G Prisons Head Quarters, He is recipient of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Commendation Letter.
APCA looks forward for an overall development in terms of training components, resources and infrastructure during his tenure.
